Adopt-A-Highway – 4/5/25

UPDATE: Adopt-a-Highway scheduled for 4/5/25 has been canceled. Stay tuned for future volunteer dates.

Sweepers are invited to the April 5 Adopt a Highway Sweep, weather permitting. It is a great way to meet new people and old friends, get some exercise and beautify the entry to Seabrook Island.

Meet at the Lake House around 9:00am. Sweepers will be provided with pick-up sticks, neon orange vests and bags. We will sweep for approximately 2 hours or as long as you are able. Each bag should weigh no more than 15-pounds and personal safety is first-and-foremost for all participants. On average, 3 bags of trash are collected by a participant.

Participants may choose an area along Betsy Kerrison/Bohicket/River Road they would like to see tidied up, or go to an assigned area.

Unable to make this sweep this event? The future date is May 17.

If you plan to participate, RSVP to Mary Gwyn at mkginmd@verizon.net.

Hope you will be able to join us!

Leaf Collection & Street Sweeping Schedule – Spring 2025

Spring is in the air and our oak trees will soon be shedding their leaves. SIPOA will commence leaf collection from the roadways using a street sweeper beginning March 17th.

Residents are reminded that the street sweeper cannot remove piles of leaves that are 6″ deep or greater.

Leaves will be removed from the roadway as long as they are not 6″ or greater in depth. Leaf collection will continue for 6 weeks and end on April 25.

Landscaped Median Extension – Phase 2

The landscaped median on Seabrook Island Road past the gate house will be extended beginning on 3/24/25.

The first phase of this project was completed in 2022. The second phase will pick up where the first ended and continue to Live Oak Park Road at the first entrance of the Lake House.

There will be an additional crosswalk added as well as a sidewalk to the Racquet Club on the side of the road opposite the Lake House.

During the week of 3/24/25, there will be some lane shifts to allow for construction on the new median with brief traffic delays. New landscaping will be installed once the streetscape work is completed and everything should be completed by early May.

Asphalt Condition Assessment Survey

Beginning March 17th, SIPOA will begin a condition assessment study of all SIPOA roadways. The study will involve visual inspection of our roadways as well as video inspection using trucks like the one in the photo below. The study will take about a week to complete, and you may see these trucks driving along the roadways.
