Beach Project Status Update – 12/13/24

The sand scraping project has been completed. 150,000 cubic yards of sand was transferred from the area of the beach around boardwalk 1 to the area of the beach between boardwalk 6 and 7. This work was completed in under 8 weeks.

The result is a new dry sand beach in an area where there was previously none. This series of pictures below were taken from boardwalk 7. The first was taken just before the project began on 9/30/24 and the last was taken on 12/13/24. These pictures do a good job of comparing the before and after conditions to illustrate just how impactful this project was.

Repairs to the seawall in the area of Beach Club Villas are currently underway. This work will continue into February. After it is completed, the third and final phase of seawall repairs will be completed in the area between the Club and boardwalk 8.

Beachfront sand scraping and seawall repairs have been completed in the area between boardwalk 6 and the Beach Club.

The work is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed by April 2025.

Beach Project Update – 11/22/24

The sand scraping and seawall repair work from boardwalk 6 to the Beach Club has been completed.

The contractor is working to create a construction access point between Dolphin Point and Beach Club Villas. They have begun stockpiling materials here for the seawall repair work in this area.

The seawall repairs are scheduled to extend into April 2025, but the contractor is ahead of schedule at this point.

We will provide schedule updates when they are available.

Beach Project Update – 11/15/24

The sand placement and seawall repair work from boardwalk 6 to the Beach Club will be completed this week. Boardwalks 3-7 will reopen on Monday (11/18/24). There is still some work going on at the beach access between boardwalks 1 and 2. Boardwalk 2 will remain closed and boardwalk 1 remains open. Work will begin on the seawall at Beach Club Villas beginning next week.

Beach Project Update

Sand scraping began this week on 10/15/24. Sand is being scraped from the intertidal area in front of BW1 and hauled to the area between boardwalks 6 and 7. This work will take place during low tide during the day and night through December.

Please plan to avoid using this section of the beach if possible.

Boardwalk 9 is open and unaffected by this project.

If you do access this section of the beach, please stay in the dry sand beach area in front of boardwalks 4 and 5.

Thank you for your patience as we work to keep Seabrook Island’s beach in great condition.

Seawall Repair & Sand Scraping Project Update 10/4/24

The beach project contractor, SJ Hamill, mobilized last week and has begun their scope of work. Stone for the seawall repair began arriving on the island this week. Armor stone is being delivered to Boardwalk 1 where it is stockpiled. The stone is then loaded onto dump trucks and transported down the beach to the exposed seawall between Boardwalks 6 and 7.

Further details on this project and the schedule can be found by accessing the project presentation here.

Please exercise patience and use caution when accessing the beach near this active construction area.

Sand scraping and transfer will bein on October 15.
