Toys for Tots Toy Drive

Now through December 12th, the Town of Seabrook Island is accepting new and unwrapped toys for their Toys for Tots Toy Drive. On December 12th is TOSI’s Holiday Extravaganza!

The Christmas season is just around the corner, and we need your help to make it magical for children in need.

Bringing joy to a child’s heart is one of the most rewarding experiences.

By donating a toy, you’re not just giving a gift, but creating a cherished memory.

Canned Food Drive

November 1 – December 10

Drop off at the Lake House lobby – Goal: 5,000lbs!

One way to make our own holiday celebrations even more meaningful is to help our neighbors in need on Johns and Wadmalaw Island. When you go grocery shopping, please purchase a couple extra cans of food, or even better, multi-packs of canned food items for distribution to the clients of the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness foundation (SIHAF).

Protein-items like hearty or chunky soups, stews, chili, corned beef hash, tuna and canned chicken, as well as canned vegetables, fruit, are especially appreciated.

Please bring your donations and place them behind the column under the new donation sign in the lobby of the Lake House. Be sure to check expiration dates before donating.

All donations will be weighed before they are picked up.

Giving is not just about making a donation. It’s about making a difference. Together, we can fight hunger, one meal at a time.

The Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation is very grateful to the Seabrook Island community and to The Lake House staff for collecting and organizing the Harris Teeter bags used for the past several years to distribute food to the clients of the Blessing Basket. It is estimated that close to 20,000 bags have been contributed, which have been filled with groceries, fresh produce, meat, eggs, and other items to benefit our neighbors on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands.

Harris Teeter recently changed the size of their bags and, unfortunately, the new bags are not sufficient for our food distributions. Therefore, the SIHAF is discontinuing the bag collection process, effective immediately. We do have an inventory of bags that will last through May of 2025 and alternate arrangements are being made to secure the bags needed for subsequent distributions.

SIHAF thanks you very much for your support in the past!

Adopt-A-Highway – 12/7/24

Adopt-a-Highway invites you to work off your Thanksgiving waistline on Saturday, December 7; 9:00am – 11:00am. The volunteer team will meet at the Lake House parking lot before heading to Betsy Kerrison. Litter bags, vests and pick-up sticks provided. The sweep lasts about two hours. Past collections average 12-15 bags of litter, removing 225lbs of debris from our roadway.

If you have any questions, please email Mary Gwyn at mkginmd@verizon.net.

Let’s make the beautiful entrance to Seabrook Island trash-free!

Marsh Hen Stormwater Outfall

SIPOA has completed a project to improve stormwater drainage on Marsh Hen Drive.

This work required permitting to allow for excavation within the salt marsh. Marsh materials were excavated using hydro excavation equipment to restore positive drainage to an existing tidal channel.

The result is a much better functioning stormwater system that will help prevent water on Marsh Hen Drive.

Beach Project Update – 11/22/24

The sand scraping and seawall repair work from boardwalk 6 to the Beach Club has been completed.

The contractor is working to create a construction access point between Dolphin Point and Beach Club Villas. They have begun stockpiling materials here for the seawall repair work in this area.

The seawall repairs are scheduled to extend into April 2025, but the contractor is ahead of schedule at this point.

We will provide schedule updates when they are available.

Boardwalk 4 Completion

Boardwalk 4 has been completed and was reopened this week. The new boardwalk provides beach access with a ramp over the seawall and has no stairs for residents who may be pulling/pushing carts or strollers.

There is also a new shower station at boardwalk 4. This was the final boardwalk without a shower station and there are now shower stations at each SIPOA boardwalk.
