Sand Scraping Update – 10/30/26

The sand scraping project continues to make progress.

Currently, sand is being hauled over the roadway from boardwalk 1 to the area in front of boardwalk 9. There will be approximately 60,000 cubic yards of sand place in front of boardwalk 9 to repair the dunes and rebuild the dry sand beach. The sand is placed in piles along the dune line and during high tide, some of that sand is eroded from the piles and redistributed along the shoreline. The beach elevation is gradually raised, and eventually a dry sand beach will extend approximately 100 feet out from the current shower station.

This work at boardwalk 9 will take approximately 3-4 weeks. The sand hauling contractor plans to bring additional equipment to the site next week and sand scraping and hauling along the beach will resume between boardwalks 1 and 7 as early as Wednesday (11-4-26).

Stay tuned for further project updates in the weekly eblast.
